INDIA, Post-Kushan (Orissa). 3rd-4th centuries. AE (Bronze, 19 mm, 4.53 g). Deity standing facing; to right crescent. Rev. Stylized King standing facing. ANS Kushan A76. Minor corrosion on the reverse, otherwise, about very fine.

From a collection of coins from Central Asia.

This cast type was issued in eastern India and is based on the earlier Kushan copper coinage. The series was called ‘Puri Kushan’ as such coins were first noticed in the Puri district in 1895 by Hoernle (see ANS Kushan, p. 244 for further information on this type).
